ABORIGINAL families, parents and carers will descend on Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre this Friday and Saturday for a series of interactive cultural workshops.
On Saturday, Yarrawarra will host an open day for families to experience the wonders of art, music and education through play and activities.
One of the co-ordinators, Roxanne Smith, said the two-day event was all about swapping culture.
“This is about Aboriginal parents sharing and learning from other Aboriginal parents and carers, exploring what works and how to get the best outcomes for our jarjums (children),” Roxanne said.
Presenters and guest speakers will include young local Aboriginal community people, parents and educators who have relevant experience in early childhood sector and act as role models to provide a positive influence on participants.
The Clarence Regional Library and Muurrbray Language centre will provide workshops.
Attendance is free. Accommodation and meals are provided.
