Aborignal women teachers at a large Central Australian community have spoken proudly of their language and culture and say that they want their children to be able to read and write in their own language as as well as in English.

The Minister for Indigenous advancement in the new Territory country Liberal government said recently that Aborignal children should not be taught in native languages while at school.
