Students from Forbes Community Out of School Hours Care joined the children from the Forbes Learning Ladder last Thursday to acknowledge NAIDOC day.
Forbes North Public School students Bridie Hughes and Emily Molloy performed their public speaking item, which was based upon this year’s NAIDOC theme of storylines.
The students spoke in both Wiradjuri and English languages. The students expressed how through time storylines is one way to was on the culture.
Following this Blake Barker, Lockie Bell, Bridie Hughes and Emily Molloy, assisted on the tap sticks by Aidan Clarke, performed a traditional dance relevant to Blake’s cultural beliefs.
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The week is an opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
