SINGLETON High School students were recently treated to a performance and workshop by Aboriginal musician and artist Adam Hill.
The Adamriginal workshop is a high energy approach to learning music and the culture of Australia’s first people.
The program involves song, puppetry, language, personal stories, drumming and Yidaki (didgeridoo) and draws on storytelling and performance traditions for inspiration.
One unique touch of the workshop is Mr Hill teaching the students rhythm through the bouncing of a basketball.
He has toured extensively as a performer to Italy, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the South Pacific with Musica Viva.
In Australia, Mr Hill has performed for Nelson Mandela and featured in the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony and the final of Australian Idol.
