INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE LEADERS TO JOIN GOVERNOR-GENERAL DURING NAIDOC WEEK
As part of NAIDOC Week, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO will join indigenous language group leaders in celebrating the 31st anniversary of the foundation of the Aboriginal Languages Association.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island elders involved in the preservation of indigenous languages will stay at Government House in Canberra on Thursday, 5 July, and join the Governor-General and other guests for events on Friday, 6 July.
The anniversary celebration is being coordinated by the Eastern States Aboriginal Languages Group, in consultation with the Office for the Arts in the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport.
The media is invited to attend a picfac with Ms Bryce and the elders at Government House between 11.45am and 12 noon, Friday 6 July.
Media representatives wishing to attend the picfac are required to email firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com with their details by COB, Thursday July 5th, in order to gain entry to Government House.
