A group of Indigenous people in the Riverland is trying to broaden the knowledge and use of Aboriginal – River language.
The group says Ngadjuri words are used throughout the Riverland, but Riverlanguage was the original spoken language in this part of the world. Unfortunately though, no one speaks it River language any more. The group has some written recordings that were done in the 1800s.
Aboriginal Elder Gladys Sumner spoke to me about it.
