The Story of the Longbums in the Mangroves

Ngirramini Ngini Piranga Kapi Mirriparinga – The Story of the Longbums in the Mangroves.

We are three local teachers of Tiwi language, from Wurrumiyanga (Nguiu ) on the Tiwi Islands. When we came to Darwin for a language teaching workshop, we thought we would bring along some of our photographs. The idea was to make a story about our school’s excursion to the mangroves on the Tiwi Islands and to share a few Tiwi words with you. We hope you like it.

Thanks to the Catholic Education Office, ABC Open and Will Tinapple, iTalk Library and Michael Roseth, and everyone at the workshop.
