A WORKSHOP focused on family history research for Aboriginal Australians will be held at the Sir Earle Page Library and Education Centre in Grafton as part of Family History Month in early August.
The all-day workshop will be run by Melissa Jackson from the State Library of NSW Indigenous Services team on Thursday, August 6.
It will focus on Aboriginal peoples of the Clarence Valley and surrounding regions and will offer an introduction to the resources available for people wishing to research their Aboriginal ancestry.
The workshop also includes an exploration of the new Rediscovering Indigenous Languages website and the knowledge it has to offer.
Mayor Richie Williamson said it was a great way for people to celebrate Family History Month and International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.
“Thanks to Clarence Valley Libraries and the State Library of NSW, our community has this unique opportunity to access resources they may not have known were available,” he said.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided for participants. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Grafton Library on 6641 0100.
