Congratulations to Batchelor of Applied Languages and Linguistics student Leonie Boddington who took out the 2009 BIITE ‘Living the Vision’ student award. Greg Dicksen nominated Leonie, saying that she ‘is an outstanding student, studying linguistics to support her efforts to maintain her language Wajarri, now endangered. She beautifully combines the Indigenous knowledge of her family’s language with the western concepts of the discipline of linguistics to achieve results – academically, personally and for the Wajarri language’. And of course congratulations to Jeanie Bell, who won the BIITE Staff Leadership Award. We’re really proud of both of you.
